ERCS Inaugurates Communal Latrine and Water Construction Projects
The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS), inaugurates communal latrine and drinking water facilities built in Andode Primary School in Addis Ababa.
Financed by the Red Cross Society of China, the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) projects in Andonde Primary School are expected to severe 10 students at a time and is also made accessible for students with disability.
Economic and Commercial Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia Liu Yu said the inaugurated projects are part of the sound and multi-faceted cooperation between Ethiopia and China.
Disaster Risk Reduction Head with the ERCS Abebe Getaneh believes that the project is of paramount importance for the wellbeing of the School Community contributing to hygiene and sanitation.
He said ERCS seeks further collaboration with the Red Cross Society of China to help address similar societal needs in various sectors.
Likewise, school feeding program for 140 students and financial assistance in the form of Income Generation Activity for 40 parents are also part of the project which is being implemented since 2018 with 114,000 US Dollars financial support from the Red Cross Society of China.
