Dr. Seifu Getahun Abera was born in Addis Ababa in 1978.
In 2005, he received his first degree (MD) as General Practitioner (GP) from the School of Medicine of the University of Jimma. From 2005-2008, Dr. Seifu has served as a GP in Abi Adi, Tigray Region and at Gimja Bet Primary Hospital, Bure woreda, Amhara region. In 2012, Dr. Seifu received his Master of Medicine Degree, specializing in Internal Medicine, from the School of Medicine of the Addis Ababa University. From 2013-2015, he served at the Bati Hospital, Dessie city, as an internist.
Furthering his international experience, his field of expertise has also taken him to the Hargeisa AL HAB hospital in Somaliland where he served from 2015-2016 as an internist.
In 2017, Dr. Seifu went for a one year attachment practice and training, as a Gastroenterologist and Hematologist, at the KwaZulu-Natal University Durban, South Africa.
From 2018-2021 Dr. Seifu served as a lecturer in the Department of Gastroenterology at the Black Lion Hospital and at the MCM Korea Hospital, Afran General Hospital at Ayer Tena, among others.
Dr. Seifu has been providing voluntary services at the Ethiopian Football Federation, the Confederation of Africa Football/CAF/ especially as Covid-19 officer, as well as at the Ethiopian Olympic Committee. He is also a board member of the Debora Foundation, OSHO (Oromia Self-help Organization).
