HIKMET ABDELLA

Ms. Hikmet has been serving as Vice Chair on Board of Directors of Global Insurance S.C for the last six years. Hikmet is a member of Female CEO Breakfast Club (FCBC) which is part of the Association of Women in Boldness (AWIB).

Hikmet took part in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) which is the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs’ premier professional exchange program. The IVLP builds mutual understanding between the U.S. and other nations through short-term visits to the U.S. for current and emerging foreign leaders back in 2009.

Ms. Hikmet is widely known for her work with Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). She is the Founder of ACCA Ethiopia Chapter and the first Country Manager for ACCA from 2004 to 2013 with the regional responsibility towards contributing to ACCA strategy in Eastern African Countries.

Recently she was one of the 50 members of the Destiny Ethiopia Initiative, primarily to come up with four Scenarios of possible futures in the year 2040 for Ethiopia.

As of November 1. 2019, Ms. Hikmet is the new Director General of Accounting and Auditing Board of Ethiopia (AABE), appointed by H.E. Dr. Abiy Ahmed, Prime Minister of the FDRE.

Ms. Hikmet has BA in Management from Hull University and Masters in Business studies from Blackrock Business School, University of Dublin, Ireland.
