Despite Security Challenges, Enormous Red Cross Dissemination Work Has Been Done


The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) in collaboration with the Finnish Red Cross(FRC) and the International Committee of the Red Cross(ICRC), conducted a ‘Dissemination, Communication and Safer Access Framework Annual Review Meeting ‘with regional branch heads and communication and DVM officers, today in Addis Ababa.

Opening the review meeting, Ato Mesfin Dereje, head of the Humanitarian Diplomacy and Communication Service, said that despite the security challenges in different regions, enormous dissemination work has been done and the activity has been increased in terms of budget and magnitude in 2025.
Ato Mesfin added that capacitating the regional branches and allocating the budget directly to them will be the next plan to enable them carry out effective dissemination work by their own.

Stephen Anderson, Communication Coordinator of ICRC Ethiopia, on his part said that, this year ICRC and ERCS have made quite substantial improvements in planning and carrying out dissemination sessions; so, the moment is very important to make more improvements in the year to come.

During the review meeting major challenges were discussed and the ways forward for improved implementation were given and finally, the draft Branding and Social Media Guidelines were also presented and discussed by participants.
