ERCS Provides Support Worth over 6 Million birr to Gamo Zone Landslide Victims


The Ethiopian Red Cross Society’s Southern Ethiopia Regional Office, in coordination with the zonal branch offices and coordination centers, as well as partner organizations and individuals, provided food and non-food items assistance worth over 6 million birr to those affected by the landslide in Gacho Baba Woreda, Gamo Zone.

The head of the regional branch office, Ato Tesfaye Dunda, stated that the support included food and non-food household items; he assured that the support provided by the Society will continue until the victims return to their previous livelihoods.

Ato Tesfaye added that the support was a demonstration of solidarity among the Red Cross branches and coordination centers in the Southern Ethiopia Regional Office.

Speaker of Gacho Baba Woreda Council, Honorable. W/ro Amarech Gondare, who received the support, expressed her gratitude for the support provided by the Ethiopian Red Cross Society, appreciating the solidarity it has been showing to the victims since the disaster occurred.
The Speaker also called on other parties to continue their humanitarian support, as the damage caused was extensive.
