ERCS Holds National Experience-Sharing Forum on Private Sector Engagement in Jigjiga


The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) successfully conducted a National Experience-Sharing Forum on Private Sector Engagement in Jigjiga Town on July 9, 2026, bringing together heads from all regional branches to exchange knowledge, strengthen collaboration, and promote innovative approaches to humanitarian action.

The forum highlighted the Somali Regional Branch’s successful partnership with a private sector investor, showcasing how strategic collaboration can enhance the Society’s humanitarian impact and organizational sustainability.

The event opened with welcoming remarks from Ato Hassan Aden, Head of ERCS Somali Regional Branch, and W/ro Mekdes Hailu, Board Treasurer. Ato Ahmed Yimam, ERCS Deputy Secretary-General for Public-Private Partnership, made opening remarks.

Participants also visited development projects implemented by the branch to gain first-hand insight into successful initiatives and their impact on local communities.

During the experience-sharing session, the Somali Regional Branch and Gamo Zonal Branch presented their best practices and lessons learned. The presentations were followed by an interactive discussion in which participants actively exchanged ideas, asked questions, and explored opportunities for replication across the National Society.

In his closing remarks, Ato Ahmed Yimam reaffirmed ERCS’s commitment to expanding similar learning forums across regions with outstanding practices and strengthening collaboration with partners to ensure the sustainability of these knowledge-sharing initiatives.
