FCDO Delegation and ERCS Leadership Conduct EC2R Project Monitoring Visit in West Arsi Zone

A joint monitoring mission comprising representatives from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), the British Red Cross (BRC), the Ethiopian Red Cross Society Headquarters, ERCS Oromia Regional Office, and ERCS West Arsi Zonal Branch successfully conducted a field visit to EC2R Project intervention areas in Siraro and Gedeb Hasasa Woredas.

During the visit, the team monitored key EC2R-supported infrastructure, including:
Gedeb Hasasa Woreda Wakachila Solar-Powered Water Supply Scheme and Tadecha Bubura Solar-Powered Water Supply Scheme, and Siraro Woreda Torban Hansawwe Solar-Powered Water Supply Scheme and Shello Balela Health Center Solar Electrification Project.

The mission also held productive discussions with project beneficiaries, trained WASHCO members, health facility staff, local government stakeholders, and ERCS project teams.
The discussions focused on project implementation progress, record-keeping and documentation, sustainability mechanisms, community ownership, operation and maintenance of facilities, and the overall impact of the EC2R programme on improving access to safe water and strengthening health services.

The visit reaffirmed the strong partnership among FCDO, British Red Cross, and the Ethiopian Red Cross Society, as well as their shared commitment to building resilient communities through sustainable water, sanitation, and health interventions.

Together, we are saving lives, reducing suffering, and building resilience.
