ERCS Reviews 2018 E.C. Budget Year Performance

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) has begun reviewing the performance of its 2018 E.C. budget plan, bringing together senior leadership, regional branch heads, and department directors.

Opening the workshop, the Secretary General of ERCS emphasized the importance of strengthening institutional capacity alongside humanitarian and development activities to enhance the Society’s preparedness and response to natural and human-induced disasters.

He noted that ERCS is in a strong position compared with sister National Societies in Africa, particularly in resource mobilization. However, he stressed that effective, efficient, and accountable use of mobilized resources is equally important.

During the first day of the review, the Sidama, Southern Ethiopia, Somali, Benishangul-Gumuz, Oromia, Central Ethiopia, and Amhara Regional Branches, as well as the Addis Ababa Branch and Dire Dawa city branches, presented their annual performance reports, highlighting achievements, challenges, and lessons learned. Participants then held discussions on the reports presented.

The review workshop will continue tomorrow, with further performance presentations, an audit report presentation, and General discussions scheduled as part of the program.
