ERCS Holds Leadership Training for Senior Management and Regional & Zonal Heads

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) conducted a two-day leadership training for Senior Executive Management, Regional Heads, and Zonal Heads from August 12–13, 2026, in Addis Ababa.

The training aimed to strengthen the leadership capacity of ERCS leaders and equip them with essential knowledge and skills to effectively lead teams, manage organizational responsibilities, and drive institutional transformation.
Opening the training, Ato Mohammed Jemal, Deputy Secretary General for Branch Affairs and Localization, emphasized the importance of strengthening leadership capacity to support the Society’s strategic priorities and improve humanitarian service delivery.

In his welcoming remarks, Ato Samuel Abebe, Head of the Human Capital and Facility Management Department, highlighted the importance of continuous leadership development in strengthening organizational performance and creating an effective working environment.

The training covered key leadership topics, including Leading Self, Leading Teams, Leading Organizations, Strategic Thinking and Leadership, Leadership and Organizational Culture, Ethical Leadership, and Transformational Leadership.

On the second day, Dr. Arega Yirdaw, former CEO of MIDROC Investment Group and current President of Unity University, participated as a guest speaker and shared insights on transformational leadership and the role of leaders in driving organizational change.
The training concluded with the presentation of certificates of recognition to participants.
