ICRC Movement Operations Thematic Coordinator Visits ERCS
Amadou Diop, Movement Operations Thematic Coordinator (GVA), visited the Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) headquarters this week, as part of his visit to the Horn of Africa, accompanied by Steven Anderson and colleagues from the ICRC Ethiopia Delegation.
The visit focused on the strong collaboration between ERCS and ICRC in humanitarian diplomacy, communication, dissemination, media engagement and capacity building.
Amadou visited the ERCS mini audiovisual studio, established with ICRC support, which is helping the Society produce diverse content and communicate its humanitarian work to communities and the wider public.
The Head of ERCS Humanitarian Diplomacy and Communication Service (HDCS), Mesfin Dereje, briefed the delegation on the progress of the partnership and ongoing joint initiatives. ICRC colleagues reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with ERCS HDCS. Mr.
Amadou also encouraged ERCS to strengthen its humanitarian diplomacy engagement at the African Union, continental and global levels, contributing to greater understanding, acceptance and support for the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
Together, strengthening humanitarian diplomacy, communication and acceptance for greater humanitarian impact.
