ERCS Provides Support Worth Over Birr 68 Million to Damaged Health Facilities in Tigray Region

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) has provided medicines, food assistance, and financial support valued at more than Birr 68 million to health facilities affected in the Tigray Region.
Of this amount, emergency food assistance valued at more than Birr 3.5 million includes 240 quintals of wheat flour, 720 liters of edible oil, and 7 quintals of salt. The assistance is expected to meet the food needs of 1,600 war-injured patients at Awash Hospital for one month.

In addition, the Society has distributed medicines valued at more than Birr 56 million, received from the UK Government’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), to six health centers. The support is expected to continue for the next two years.
During the handover, ERCS President Ato Abera Tola acknowledged that the assistance was limited compared with the extensive needs. However, he emphasized that it demonstrates the Society’s commitment to strengthening humanitarian support in collaboration with affected communities, local communities, and other partners.

The Society reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the humanitarian response capacity of its Tigray Regional Branch Office and enhancing support for affected people through collaboration with communities and partners.
