ERCS Provides ETB 30 Million in Emergency Shelter and Non-Food Items to Conflict-Displaced People in Moyale

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) has provided Emergency Shelter and Non-Food Item (ESNFI) assistance worth approximately ETB 30 million to 1,000 households displaced by the recent conflict in Moyale Town and surrounding kebeles.

According to ERCS emergency response teams, the assistance was dispatched from the Society’s central humanitarian warehouses and transported to the affected areas beginning last week. Distribution is currently underway to support internally displaced persons (IDPs) who were forced to flee their homes due to the conflict.
The assistance package includes 2,000 emergency shelter tarpaulins, 2,000 blankets, 2,000 sleeping mats, 1,000 dignity kits, 1,000 bars of laundry soap, 1,000 jerry cans, 1,000 kitchen sets, 500 washing basins, 500 handwashing basin-and-jug sets, 1,000 non-food item bags, 1,000 solar lamps, and 500 rolls of 20-meter rope.

According to local authorities, the conflict has reportedly displaced more than 200,000 people across Moyale and neighboring areas, creating urgent humanitarian needs among affected communities.
In response, ERCS continues to conduct rapid humanitarian assessments and closely monitor the situation to identify priority needs and guide the provision of additional life-saving assistance to affected communities.

ERCS staff and volunteers are working tirelessly to deliver humanitarian assistance to affected communities, even under challenging conditions. The Society continues to uphold its commitment to assisting people affected by emergencies and disasters, guided by its fundamental humanitarian principles.
