ERCS Signs Collective Agreement

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) and its Labor Association signed the Collective Agreement at the ERCS Training Center where the signing ceremony was held on October 21, 2013 in the presence of DSGS, Department, and Service Heads. The Collective Agreement reached between the Society and the Labor Association is an agreement which has 29 articles that regulate the terms and conditions of employees in their workplace, their duties and the duties of the Society. On behalf of the Society, W/ro Frehiwot Work, Secretary General of ERCS signed the collective agreement and on behalf of the Labor Union Ato Endeshaw Kebede, Chairman of the Labor Association at the ERCS signed the agreement. Upon signing the agreement, W/ro Frehiwot Worku thanked leaders of the Labor Association for the effort they made and the patience they showed during the negotiation which took long time. The purpose of the collective agreement is to create conducive working environment for the employees who will in turn exert their maximum efforts to achieve the objective of the society through ensuring peace, she added. Ato Endeshaw on his part indicated that there is a good relationship between the management and the Labor Association that enabled negotiation to be conducted peacefully. It was also indicated that this collective agreement is intended to serve for the next three years.
