Elected Board Members Attended Induction Workshop

Elected zonal and regional branch board members of Ethiopian Red Cross Society have attended two days of induction workshop in three rounds from February 28-March 16, 2013 held at the Societys training center here in Addis Ababa.
The workshop was aimed at creating awareness about the working culture and system of Ethiopian Red Cross Society and introducing elected board members to the Societys overall organizational change initiative. To this end, the induction is expected to help them join the Movement having clear and mutual understanding on such issues.
President of Ethiopian Red Cross Society, Ato Daniel Tegenu on his opening speech asserted that, since the role of board members in extending effectiveness and efficiency of the Societys humanitarian endeavors is highly deemed imperative, elected board members are expected to work with a spirit of volunteerism committed with self-initiative and full dedication.
Secretary General of the Society, W/ro Frehiwot Worku on her part stated that, the Society as auxiliary to the government should expand its engagement in the humanitarian endeavors where the governments hand is short. Moreover, in a well transparent and accountable manner, we must further develop our acceptance in the national public and in the international arena as well, she noted.
It is also learned that, the workshop was attended and facilitated by governing body of the Society, Ethiopian country representative of IFRC, ICRC head of delegation to Ethiopia, partner national societies of Swedish, Germany, Italy, Austrian, Spanish and Netherlands Red Cross delegates.
