ERCS Undertakes Red Cross Youth General Assembly

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) undertakes the national Red Cross youth council general assembly held at Addis Ababa Exhibition Center and Market Development Enterprise from August 15-16, 2014. Opening the general assembly representative of the Secretary General and Deputy Secretary General for Branch and Resource Development at ERCS, Dr. Solomon Ali, said that, the Red Cross youth have a great role to play in the effort to implement and meet the mission and goal of the ERCS. He further noted that, in order to better integrate their efforts with the timely quest of the humanitarian and community based development activities, establishing the Red Cross Youth Council has already become mandatory. The formation of the national council will also help the Red Cross youth to actively participate in and contribute for the Red Cross leadership, he added. During the two days general assembly meeting, members of the council have discussed on 2012 up to 2014 fiscal year performance on youth related activities of the ERCS and 2014 and 2015 plan and indicative budget among others. Moreover, the general assembly has elected national executive committee comprising seven members whereby Mr. Kebede Endalkachew and Mr. Ousman Mohammed will serve as chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the Committee for the upcoming two years term.
