Society Reviews Annual Plan Performance Of Its Tigray Branch

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society(ERCS) conducted 2013/14 annual plan performance review of its Tigray Regional branch from 6-7 August 2014 in Adigrat at Eve hotel.
Ato Yemane Zeray Board chairman of Tigray Branch in his opening speech said that, in this fiscal year plan performance evaluation should focus on performance against plan and the lessons learned in 2012/13 plan performance evaluation results.He further noted that the regional branch should learn from its achievements and failures and include imputes of the evaluation in the upcoming planning year to fill the gaps and tackle weakness.
In the review meeting, the harmonized relationship with different regional government organs,the growth in membership drive in almost all zonal branches, the ambulance services, securing land for different zonal and woreda branch offices, the construction of garage in south west zonal branch and its consequent cost saving are identified as strengths of the region.
In addition, the efforts made to organize the bazaar by external source, the relations made with Beer sole distributors for resource mobilization and the environmental protection activities were also considered as good achievements among others that should continue in stronger manner in the following years.
On the other hand, non-standardization of planning and performance reports, disparity of data among zonal branches and the region, weak performance of One Birr for Humanity resource mobilization campaign, timely delivery of quality reports and non- attachment of May 8 RCRC day with resource mobilization were the gaps identified among others that needs to be given emphasis and addressed in the coming year plan.
In general except the weaknesses that need more attention in the coming year plan, in all cases, it has been observed a better performance as compared to the previous year plan performance periods.
While closing the review meeting, ERCS Deputy Secretary General Hagos Gemechu presented the Societys major plan achievements and challenges of the 2013/14 budget year with the coming year focus areas and change directions.
He has underscored that the relatively better performance of the ERCS Tigray branch should further be strengthened by taking the detail inputs the two days evaluation delivered by participants. He has also noted that the branch performance on ambulance service should be maintained strategically and be documented best practices in order to scalup the lessons to other branches of ERCS.
Finally, he has appreciated the preparation and thanked the Regional Board chairman for his commitment and the host Eastern zone branch.
ERCS Afar branch was also among the participants who presented its respective branch plan performance of 2013/14.
In a related development, ERCS Tigray branch awarded its north western zonal branch as best performing zonal branch and one ambulance drivers from each zonal branch for the best service they have rendered in 2013/14 budget year.
