Workshop conducts on Red Cross Movement By Tizazu Wodaje A workshop on Mapping and Reflection of the Red Cross Movement in Ethiopia was conducted from November 12-13, 2014 at the Training Center of the Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS). The objective of the workshop was to review the current activities of Red Cross movement in Ethiopia and establish a common understanding of capacity building components of the movement. The workshop was also amid at identifying potential areas for greater collaboration and complementary in particular reference to ERCS and its change strategy and programs for impact. W/ro Frehiwot Worku, Secretary General of ERCS in her opening remark, indicated that the National Society is in the process of focusing and refocusing on its strategic directions. The Society has now developed a strategic direction where each partner can identify areas where its activities can fit into the strategic direction of the Society, she added. W/ro Frehiwot urged participants of the workshop to discuss openly and interactively on what they do and how they can support ERCS. In welcoming remark, Ms. Jill Clements, IFRC Country Representative in Ethiopia, thanked participants of the workshop for taking part actively in interviews conducted for the preliminary work of this workshop. Overviews of the ERCS and general views and perspectives of the Society were presented to stimulate participants of the workshop which attracted heads of sister national societies working in Ethiopia and officials from ICRC and IFRC.
