Ethiopian Red Cross Society conducts training on International Humanitarian Law and Red Cross and Red Crescent emblem use

On 15 March 2017 Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) conducted dissemination on the respect and implementation of International Humanitarian Law and Red Cross and Red Crescent emblem use for 250 Defense Command staff, college trainees and staff at the college auditorium.
Kifelew Alemu, Head, Volunteers, Members and Branch Department said, ERCS conducts such kind of training for the public authorities, police and defense to create their awareness on basic principles of Red Cross, the use of the society emblem, respect and implementation of International Humanitarian Law.
Colonel Demeke Mengestu , Defense Command and Staff College dean, on his part also said training of this kind will strengthen the awareness of the trainees to respect and Implement IHLon their day to day military activities .
The origin of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, Red Cross and Red Crescent emblem, the origin and mandate of the ERCS were topics covered on the training sessions.
Participants of the dissemination were trainees of Defense Command and Staff College, and military commanders, at different levels, it was learnt.
