Ethiopian Red Cross Society signs partnership agreement with Qatar Red Crescent Society

Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) signed partnership agreement which will last for the coming 10 years with Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) to work collaboratively all humanitarian activities on 22 February 2018.
The objectives of the partnership are: to cooperate on promoting Statues, principles, policies and decisions of the movement, to enter in to strategic partnership while developing and implementing projects and to express their respective responsibilities in a spirit of good faith and respecting institutional autonomy.
W/O Frehiwot Worku, ERCS Secretary General stated, during the signing ceremony, “Today is a historic day as Qatar Red Crescent Society is the first national Society to sign Memorandum of Understanding with ERCS from the Middle East being the 6th national society partnering with the Ethiopian Red Cross Society”. She added that she is pleased for that to happen and aspired for long standing partnership.
Ali Hassan Alhammadi, QRCS Secretary General, on his part, put forward, “Ethiopia-Qatar relationship is being strengthened from time to time politically and economically. This is a good opportunity for the partner national Societies to collaboratively attain their mission. He also indicated that QRCS is more interested in collaborating with ERCS in the health sector as a first step and goes on by signing further agreements.
The delegation led by the Secretary General of QRCS visited ERCS Center of Capacity Building for Humanitarian Activities, discussed with IFRC and Ministry of Foreign Affairs during its two days stay in Addis Ababa.
