Call for humanitarian support
Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) calls for business organizations and the community at large to provide humanitarian assistance for its emergency interventions on a press conference held at the National Head Quarters on October 9, 2018.
Mr. Wondawik Abeze, Deputy Secretary General for Resource Development and Mobilization of ERCS, briefed media that “The Society has provided food and non-food items to 23,968 displaced households from different parts of the country between April and September 2018 at the cost of 43 million birr.”
He announced that there is a need of 554 million birr to address over 90,000 IDPs temporarily settled in east Wolega Zone of Oromia and Kemashi Zone of Benishangul Gumuz Regional States and to rehabilitate the lives of 38,000 who already returned to Gedeao.
Mr. Wondawik has also encouraged the business community and individuals who will take the initiatives to work with the National Society in order to save lives and livelihoods. He promised that the Society, as usual, will directly channel all funds to benefit the vulnerable.
