Ethiopian Red Cross Society/Canada Red Cross inaugurate Dadakare/Kindo Koisha water project.
The Ethiopian Red Cross Society in partnership with the Canadian Red Cross inaugurated the Dadakare water project constructed in Kindo Koisha district of the Wolaita Zone, in the State of Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples.
The project which is part of the Response for Drought Project includes two water points, reservoir and purifier that gives clean water access for two kebeles of the Kindo Koisha district.
Consuming an estimated amount of ninety four thousand Canadian Dollars (94,000 CAD), the water project is expected to directly benefit more than one thousand people and additional three hundred people indirectly with a capacity to expand.
Residents of dadakere kebele and nearby vicinities are delighted over the water project saying it would significantly transform their lives. Previously, people were forced to travel up to two hours fetch unclean, sandy water for themselves and their cattle which expose them to various waterborne diseases.
They acknowledge the Ethiopian and Canadian Red Crosses for the lifesaving interventions.
High level delegation from Ethiopian Red Cross Society, representatives of Canadian Red Cross, Kindo Koisha district administrators and regional water bureau heads were part of the inauguration ceremony that took place on Sunday 16th of June, 2019.//
