ERCS Hosts Internal Movement Reflection Marking 60 Years of the Fundamental Principles


The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS), together with the ICRC, held an internal Reflection Session today as part of the global commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

During the session, Movement leaders Ato Abera Lulessa, ERCS Secretary General,Ms. Simone Casabianca, ICRC Head of Delegation in Ethiopia, and Ms. Paula Fritzgerald, IFRC Head of Delegation for Ethiopia & Djibouti Cluster delivered keynote messages highlighting how the Fundamental Principles have remained instrumental for the continuity, credibility, and humanitarian access of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement for six decades.

The Reflection Session created a safe space for open discussion on Neutrality, Impartiality, and Independence, bringing together ERCS leadership, branches, volunteers, ICRC, IFRC, and Partner National Societies.

The event reaffirmed the Movement’s shared commitment to principled humanitarian action in Ethiopia.
