ERCS Utilizes More than 275 Million Birr in the Past Two Months.


The Ethiopian Red Cross Society has utilized 275, 278,397 Birr in the past two months on response efforts where most the money was spent on emergency response activities.
In the past two months, 23, 296,000 Birr was utilized on Emergency shelter, and Non-Food Items(ES/NFI) as well as Food Items(FI) support, reaching 14, 000,830 beneficiaries; and 162, 792,000 Birr was spent on cash distribution, reaching 89,025 beneficiaries.

Through WASH, EMS and health related interventions, about 17 million Birr was spent across the regions where the projects were implemented; 10 WASH facilities were rehabilitated at a cost of over 9 million Birr in Bambasi district of Benishangul Gumuz region and benefiting 627 households, as well as solarized water supply project built at a cost of over one million Birr in Afar region, were also mentioned as Resilience Related Activities.

In relation to migration and returnees, ERCS provided Emergency Shelter and Non-Food Items (ES/NFI) support to 800 households, hygiene kits to 900 households and dignity kits to 2,500 households in Benishangul Gumuz region. More than 15,000 returnees were provided with various supports upon their arrival at Bole International Airport. Among these, 19 returnees received job skills training and received a starting capital of 40,000 Birr each.

In addition, 20,341 individuals have successfully restored and maintained family contacts on phone call services have been reunited by phone in refugee camps and IDP sites, and more than 14,000 individuals in refugee camps have been equipped with solar power charging.
