Medical Supplies Worth over 6.4 Million Birr Have Been Provided Since the Outbreak of Marburg Virus


The Ethiopian Red Cross Society has provided medical supplies worth over 1.14 million Birr to the Southern Ethiopia Regional Health Bureau to help prevent the spread of Marburg virus.

During the handover, Ato Tilahun Bishaw, head of the Ari Zone ERCS Branch Office, said that the support included protective equipment, medical supplies, patient beds, hygiene supplies and other similar resources, adding that a total of over 6.4 million birr of medical supplies have been provided since the outbreak of the disease.

Dr.Mentesnot Melka, Deputy Director of the Southern Ethiopia Regional Public Health Institute, on his part, expressed his gratitude for the humanitarian support that the Ethiopian Red Cross Society has been providing since the outbreak of the virus in the region.

He conveyed his message that everyone should do their part to ensure that the work of preventing and controlling the virus is completely successful.
