The Ethiopian Red Cross Society(ERCS) conducted a Quarterly Review Meeting of the Ethiopia Crises to Resilience (EC2R) Program phase III, from January 1–2 , 2026, in Adama Town.
The review meeting aims to assess the program’s implementation progress against its planned objectives and outputs, and to agree on key actions required to enhance performance and ensure sustainability.

The meeting brought together ERCS management and staff from the Head Office as well as Regional and Branch Offices, representatives from the Netherlands Red Cross and, officials from government Health and Water sector offices.

Opening the workshop, Ato Dires Desyibelew,ERCS’s Deputy Secretary General for Programs, noted that EC2R is a large-scale program implemented over the past three years with the objective of benefiting nearly three million vulnerable people living in hard-to-reach areas affected by conflict and natural shocks. He highlighted that the program has been implemented with a total budget exceeding 3.5 billion Ethiopian Birr.

He further emphasized that the program is providing substantial support, particularly in addressing the health needs of mothers and children, while also contributing to the government’s national priorities in this area.

On his closing remarks, the Secretary General of the Society, Ato Abera Lulesa, noted that the EC2R program is significant both nationally and internationally in terms of the services it provides to the community and its significant benefit in enhancing the image of the Society.
Ato Abera added that the evaluation workshop has enabled to evaluate the quality and timeliness of the activities that benefits the community at large.

During the workshop, progress updates, key challenges, and proposed ways forward were presented by project coordinators from the four implementing regions, followed by a comprehensive question-and-answer session and discussion.

EC2R program is a flexible, multi-sector humanitarian initiative funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). It delivers life-saving assistance to Ethiopia’s most vulnerable populations across Amhara, Benishangul-Gumuz, Oromia, and Tigray regions.
