ERCS Receives Recognition for Its Comprehensive Efforts to Prevent and Control Marburg Virus

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society has been awarded a certificate of recognition by the Regional Health Bureau for its efforts to prevent and control the Marburg outbreak in Jinka town and its surrounding areas, as well as for its support in providing medical supplies and other activities.

The Minister of Health of the FDRE, Dr. Mekdes Daba, thanked the leaders, supporters and stakeholders of the Jinka Medical Center for their coordination and efforts to prevent and control the virus.

The President of the Southern Ethiopia Regional State, His Excellency Ato Tilahun Kebede, in his message, said; Health professionals who gave their lives while treating patients infected with the virus deserve respect.

Head of the ERCS’S Southern Ethiopia Regional Branch Office, Ato Tesfaye Dunda, has received a certificate of recognition  for ERCS’s contribution to the prevention and control of the Malburg outbreak in Jinka town and its surrounding areas.

The recognition program was attended by the FDRE Minister of Health , the US Ambassador to Ethiopia, senior officials of the regional government and other partners.
