ERCS Management Evaluates the Semi-annual Performance Report

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) management on Thursday evaluated the semi-annual performance report for the 2025/2026 fiscal year in Addis Ababa.
ERCS has registered outstanding results in strategic priorities—including Disaster Preparedness and Response, Disaster Risk Reduction and Community Resilience, and Health and Wellbeing—reaching over 2.6 million people nationwide.
Under the Disaster Preparedness and Response priority area alone, ERCS provided timely humanitarian assistance to 479,049 disaster-affected individuals, utilizing over 1.1 billion birr for cash assistance, essential on-food items, and shelter support for both displaced households and host communities.
According to Mrs. Kalkidan Admasu, Director of Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting Department at ERCS, the Society has achieved a recognized result in the effort of containing the spread of Marburg virus in the country through a mass sensitization campaign and distributing medical supplies.
She highlighted that the Society has generated over 4.2-billion-birr income from various sources, marking 119% of the planned performance for the 2025/2026 fiscal year. This represents a 96% increase compared to the results achieved in the 2024/2025 fiscal year.
Ato Abera Lulessa, Secretary General of ERCS, appreciated the results, acknowledged the collective efforts made across all levels, and also expressed his dissatisfaction over the low performance of some regional branches, urging them to improve their results within the remaining fiscal year.
The outstanding performance of the fiscal year has been registered following the implementation of a new Strategic Plan of ERCS that covers the period from July 2025 to July 2030.
