ERCS Donates Medicine and Medical Equipment Worth over 21.7 Million Birr


The Ethiopian Red Cross Society, Tigray Regional Branch, through the Italian Red Cross, with the support of the Italian Development Cooperation Agency (AICS), has donated medicine and medical equipment worth over 21.7 million birr to Adigrat, Aksum and Hewo hospitals for the second time under the project “Rehabilitation of Health Essential Services and Prime Emergency Assistance”.

The support is expected to alleviate the shortage of medicine and medical equipment in the three hospitals and is a major support in the efforts to restore health services.
The leaders and staff of the hospitals that received the support expressed their sincere gratitude to the Ethiopian Red Cross Society and the Italian Red Cross for their support in addressing the shortage of medicines and medical equipment.

It is worth noting that the project, funded by the Italian Red Cross and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) with a total of more than 75 million birr, has made a significant contribution to restoring essential health services, improving emergency response, and strengthening community participation in the Tigray region, as was announced at the project’s concluding workshop held in Adigrat city on February 17, 2026.
