Benishangul Gumuz Branch Holds 20th General Assembly
The Benishangul Gumuz Regional Branch Office of the Ethiopian Red Cross Society(ERCS) held its 20th General Assembly and elected board members who will lead the Society for the next four years. In the election, the mayor of Assosa City Administration, Ato Abdulkarim Abdurehim, was elected as the chairman of the board.
The Ethiopian Red Cross Society is a humanitarian organization free from race, religion, color, and political affiliations, said Ato Mohamed Jamal, ERCS’s deputy secretary general for branches and localization. He underscored that ERCS is implementing development and humanitarian activities that benefit the community and support the government by allocating a large budget in the region.
Head of the Branch Office, Ato Moges Negero, noted that it has carried out various humanitarian services in the region with a budget of more than 1 billion birr in the past 4 years torehabilitate degraded areas and improve access to basic services through its disaster response program.
At the meeting, a report was presented on the humanitarian and development activities carried out by ERCS in the region over the past 4 years, and the plan for the next 2 years was also presented and discussed.
Finally, the general assembly elected Ato Abdulkarim Abdurahim as the chairman of the board; Ms. Hajira Ibrahim Abulhassan as the deputy chairman; and W/ro. Tigist Dibisa Srika as the treasurer. Ato Mufti Haji Halif Abuzed; Ato Getachew Philipos Asham; Ato Fekadu Nemera Wako and Sheikh Endris Ahmed Sayid were elected as board members.
