Free Health Screening and Counseling Service Reaches 289 Residents in Bahir Dar

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society’s Bahir Dar and North Gojam Zone Coordination Office has provided a two-day free health screening and counseling service for residents of Bahir Dar city, held from April 17–18, 2026.
Led by dedicated volunteer professionals—including doctors, nurses, and pharmacy experts—the initiative focused on raising awareness and early detection of non-communicable diseases, particularly hypertension and diabetes.

A total of 289 residents benefited from the service. Alongside medical screenings and personalized counseling, participants also received practical health education on maintaining a healthy lifestyle, preventing disease, and understanding the humanitarian role and services of the Ethiopian Red Cross Society.

Community members warmly welcomed the initiative, expressing strong appreciation for the accessible and compassionate care provided. Many encouraged the Society to expand similar programs to reach even more communities.
The success of the activity also highlights the vital role of professional volunteers, whose continued commitment strengthens community health and inspires others to serve.
