ERCS Supports Landslide-Affected Communities in Damot Gale, Wolaita Zone

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS), through its Wolaita Zone Branch Office, has provided emergency assistance worth nearly half a million Ethiopian Birr to communities affected by the recent landslide in Damot Gale Woreda.

According to Ato Yilma Elka, Program Coordinator of the Wolaita Zone Branch, this initial response marks the first phase of support aimed at assisting affected households to recover from the disaster. The assistance includes both food and essential non-food items for families displaced from their homes.
In this first round of intervention, relief items valued at more than 468,000 Ethiopian Birr were distributed to those most in need.

The Head of the Wolaita Zone Disaster Risk Management Office, Ato Addisu Sorsa, expressed his appreciation to ERCS for its swift and timely response to the emergency, which caused significant damage to lives and property in the woreda.
