Rwanda Red Cross Delegation Begins Three-Day Courtesy Visit to ERCS

A delegation from the Rwanda Red Cross, led by its President, Mr. Wilson Karasira, has begun a three-day courtesy visit to the Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) to strengthen cooperation, share experiences, and enhance collaboration between the two National Societies.

Welcoming the delegation, ERCS Secretary General Ato Abera Lulessa highlighted the Society’s organizational transformation agenda outlined in its five-year Strategic Plan. He reaffirmed ERCS’s commitment to increasing the proportion of its budget mobilized from internal sources, noting that this strategic direction will strengthen the Society’s financial sustainability and reduce its vulnerability to the impact of global humanitarian funding cuts.

Members of the Rwandan delegation also engaged in discussions with the ERCS management team, with questions addressed by the Secretary General, Deputy Secretaries General, and senior management.
On the second day of the visit, the delegation will receive presentations on ERCS’s organizational structure, capacity-building initiatives, Movement coordination mechanisms, emergency medical services, and digital transformation efforts.

The delegation is also scheduled to visit several key ERCS facilities, including the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), Audiovisual Studio, Essential Drugs Program (EDP), Center for Capacity Building for Humanitarian Services (CCBHS), as well as the Society’s warehouse and fleet management facilities.

The visit is expected to further strengthen cooperation between the Ethiopian and Rwanda Red Cross Societies through the exchange of knowledge, best practices, and experiences in humanitarian service delivery.
