ERCS Conducts Tree Planting Campaign on Mount Yeka

ERCS Conducts Tree Planting Campaign on Mount Yeka
August 3, 2026News

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS), in collaboration with its Addis Ababa Branch Office, conducted a tree planting campaign on Mount Yeka as part of its ongoing commitment to environmental protection and climate action.

The campaign brought together management and staff from the ERCS National Headquarters and Addis Ababa Branch Office, representatives of Partner National Societies, and volunteers. Together, they planted more than 2,000 tree seedlings of various species to help restore the environment and promote a greener future.

Speaking on behalf of the Secretary General, Ato Ahmed Yimam, Deputy Secretary General for Public Private Partnership, said the initiative forms part of the Society’s annual Green Legacy program. He encouraged staff and volunteers to continue working with greater dedication, collaboration, and commitment to advancing the Society’s humanitarian and environmental goals.

For more than four decades, the Ethiopian Red Cross Society has been actively engaged in environmental conservation and climate resilience initiatives across the country. Through forest development and tree planting activities, ERCS has contributed to building healthier ecosystems and more resilient communities.

The Society has implemented successful environmental protection and reforestation initiatives in South Wollo, Jimma, Mizan Aman, East Gojjam, and many other parts of the country, reflecting its longstanding commitment to safeguarding the environment for future generations.
