ERCS HQ Staff Discuss 2018 E.C. Performance and 2019 E.C. Plan

Employees of the Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) Headquarters today discussed with the Society’s senior leadership in Addis Ababa on the Society’s performance during the 2018 Ethiopian fiscal year and its plan for the 2019 fiscal year.

Following an opening speech by ERCS Secretary General, Mr. Abera Lulessa, the Director of the Society’s Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting Department, W/ro Kalkidan Admasu, presented the major activities and achievements undertaken by the Society during the fiscal year. Mr. Belay Lencho, Senior Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting Officer, subsequently presented the plan for the current fiscal year to the meeting participants.

Questions and comments raised by participants were addressed and clarified by Secretary General Mr. Abera Lulesa and the Deputy Secretary Generals.
In his closing message to the staff, Secretary General Mr. Abera Lulessa highlighted the significant contribution of all employees to the achievements registered by the Society during the concluded fiscal year. He emphasized the importance of sustaining and further strengthening this collective effort.

Mr. Abera also noted that, alongside expanding the reach and accessibility of the humanitarian services provided by the Society, ERCS is working extensively to strengthen its institutional capacity. He urged employees to have a clear understanding of the Society’s vision and mission, as well as a strong understanding of its five-year strategic plan, and to carry out their responsibilities with a strong sense of ownership and commitment.

During the 2018 Ethiopian fiscal year, the Society reported collecting more than ETB 7.3 billion in revenue and spending more than ETB 5.4 billion, enabling nearly five million people to benefit from its humanitarian services. During the same fiscal year, the Society increased its membership to 7,516,108 and its number of volunteers to 48,119.
