ERCS Delivers Vital Humanitarian Aid to Conflict-Affected Communities in Amhara Region

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) Amhara Regional Branch has provided critical humanitarian assistance to conflict-affected and displaced communities in the Chagni and Ayehu Gagusa woredas of the Awi National Zone.

The intervention was carried out to address the urgent needs of families who were forced to flee their homes due to conflict, helping them access essential relief items needed to maintain their health, safety, and dignity during a difficult period of displacement.
With financial support from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) through the EC2R Project, the ERCS delivered humanitarian assistance to 500 households across the targeted areas. Each household received support valued at 30,000 ETB, bringing the total value of the humanitarian response to 15 million ETB.

The relief packages included high-quality blankets, tarpaulins for emergency shelter, and essential kitchen sets. These items are crucial in helping displaced families cope with temporary living conditions and restore a sense of safety and normalcy.

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society continues to uphold its humanitarian mission by providing neutral, impartial, and effective assistance to vulnerable communities affected by crises. Working in close collaboration with local authorities, partners, and international donors, the ERCS Amhara Regional Branch remains committed to supporting community recovery and strengthening resilience among affected populations.

Through such timely interventions, the Society continues to stand alongside communities in need, helping to alleviate suffering and support pathways toward recovery and stability.
