ERCS colorfully celebrates International Red Cross and Red Crescent Day

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) celebrates International Red Cross and Red Crescent Day in the Presence of His Excellency Dr. Mulatu Teshome, FDRE President and Patron of ERCS, representatives from Movement members and families of the Red Cross with a theme Peace; Everywhere for everyone on 8th May 2018.
Dr. Mulatu Teshome, in his message, underlines the deep and positive impacts that the humanitarian activities have made by creating a sense of satisfaction among the displaced people and the victims in general as a result of the contributions made by the government, the society and donors to alleviate the negative repercussions of this man-made crisis. The president honors the memories of those volunteers who lost their lives while trying to save the lives of victims of natural and man-made catastrophes around the world as well as in the country.
Dr. Tadele Feleke, Vice President of ERCS, stated in his opening speech that spontaneous natural and human made disasters are disrupting human peace and many people are exposed to life loss, migration and worse living situations where the Movement members as a whole have rendering excelling supports to the vulnerable.
While carrying out activities in Emergency Response, First Aid, Ambulance Services, Health and Sanitation and Disaster Risk Reduction, the Society managed to support close to 3 million vulnerable people deploying 47,000 volunteers and about 1,900 staff with in the current year.
Emeritus volunteers practice and views exchange, Red Cross youth song performance, certificate award of First Aid trainees, poems presentation and blood donation were part of the event.
