Canadian Red Cross Society has handed over a heavy truck worth more than 4 million Birr to the Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) on April 4, 2019, at ERCS Center for Capacity Building for Humanitarian Services.
The donation aims to support the emergency response activities the Society is currently undertaking.
Canadian Red Cross and Ethiopian Red Cross Society have been working together for the last five years in the areas of Sustainable Emergency Response Activities(SERA) – a strategic undertaking that has contributed to the Society’s emergency response capacity based on the need of the community at various branches.
While handling over the truck, Director of Global Canadian Red Cross Society Pat LABERGE said the truck is used to play the role that the Society does and play as a humanitarian action.
Dr. Meshesha Shewarega, Secretary General of ERCS on his part said ERCS has been working in partnership with nine National Societies and in light of the humanitarian need of the country donation given by the Canadian Red Cross, one of its partner, would benefit the Society’s emergency undertakings.
The truck has the capacity to carry 800 quintals at a time.
