Ethiopian Red Cross Society wins Spanish Red Cross Gold Medal in 2018

Spanish Red Cross (SRC) awards Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) a Gold Medal, for its praiseworthy actions in favor of the most vulnerable people.
The Award was given during the ceremony held in the city of Santiago de Compostela, in North West of Spain on 8 May 2018
ERCS wins this Gold Medal on the occasion of the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, organized by the SRC with the motto of this year being “Committed to the environment and people”.
The SRC Awards Committee stated that the Gold Medal is awarded to ERCS for all its efforts to reduce the vulnerability and strengthen the capacities of people and communities. Improving degraded environment of rural areas and increasing food security and livelihoods conditions of vulnerable communities of Amhara and Oromia Regions as well as in other areas of the country.
This event, was graced by the presence of Her Majesty the Queen of Spain Mrs. Letizia who chaired the Official Ceremony. W/o Frehiwot Worku, Secretary General of ERCS, who attended this Awards Ceremony received the award from the hands of Her Majesty the Queen.
